Hello everyone! I hope you had a FABULOUS NYE! New Year's Eve is my favorite holiday of the year! It signifies a rebirth, new beginnings and new experiences. Every December, a girlfriend and I map out our yearly goals for the next year. I have a few big goals in mind like traveling overseas and to find new and exciting things to blog about (and use my new video skills!) and smaller goals like working out more and drinking more water... What are your goals?
The Mister and I spent Christmas at home in San Luis Obispo but decided to go back to Sacramento to ring in the new year with some of our friends. We hung out at a small pub and reminisced about the year and all of its fun times and mishaps. When midnight struck, I got my first kiss by my Mister Special :)
Since there are no malls here, I haven't really done much shopping. So when I got back into Sac, I hit up a few of my favorite spots. Alas, I only came away with one (AMAZING) thing. I found a great deal on a tweed Rachel Roy jacket that I couldn't pass up! I wore it with a black and white chevron top and some Paige Denim flared jeans. Since it was crrrrazy cold, I added a black scarf and some Jessica Simpson boots. Simple and chic. Just the way I like it. Here is the link to the jacket. It is so much cuter in person.
Here is my NYE outfit (gotta love those classy mirror pictures):

What did YOU wear for NYE?
Cheers!

Hello lovelies! Its been about a week and a half since I've blogged = BAD BLOGGER! I have mixed emotions about the holidays this year. My family is scattered around the country (sadface) for Christmas and I hadn't seen them at Thanksgiving either (my parents were out of the country) although we had spent it with Mister Special's family (they are always a fun bunch and the food is DEEEELISH!). This year for Christmas, we decided to stay home and celebrate Christmas together. While I do love hanging out with my Mister, I am missing my family a bunch. :(
A giant storm had rolled in on Friday (last night) as one of my closest friends was coming to visit. Unfortunately, when she arrived, she was also came down with the flu. Reluctantly this morning, she had to drive home and cancel our weekend. Double boo.
The rain is steady here but that didn't stop the Mister and I from bundling up and walking downtown to get a coffee and watch all the Christmas shoppers dash to and fro in their giant colorful umbrellas (and some parents scrunched under their children's tiny Power Rangers or Hello Kitty ones) as the rain blew in sideways and pouring at certain times.
I do have a shopping tip if you haven't already been into Target. The Neiman Marcus collection is HALF OFF ladies! Since the collection has come out, the biggest complaint among customers I've talked to in the store and my friends say that they simply wouldn't pay the full price for those items because Target has a reputation for providing "reasonable prices," despite the fact that they are selling luxury items. With the 50% reduction, that Jason Wu dress you've been eyeing or that Alice + Olivia bicycle (which is now $249.99) is now attainable.

Happy Shopping ladies!
Hello blogworld! All is well here on the coast. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here. On Friday, the town had its holiday parade. People put out chairs on the main street to reserve their spot well before the parade started at 7pm. The mister and I wandered around before the parade, checking out the floats. It was really awesome to see an entire town hang out together for a few hours. Here are a few shots:
Saturday, we went searching for a tree. Since we have a small living room area, we decided on a table top tree. I've settled in on a red/black/white Christmas decor and am making ornaments (once my Amazon shipment comes in). Here is my inspiration board from images I'd found around Pinterest. How are you decorating for Christmas?
Sunday, the mister and I headed to Avila Beach, which is about a five minute drive from where we live. I LOVE living near the beach!
What did you do this weekend?

As I finished my post, I stumbled upon the Target ad for the Neiman Marcus campaign that features Karlie Kloss. Too adorable! Check it out!
Happy Sunday! I hope your weekend has been drier than mine. It's rained all weekend here in San Luis Obispo and it was even worse today than Friday or Saturday combined! Here is what went down this weekend:
Saturday, I was up bright and early (4am to be exact) to put on my Department's Reindeer Run. About 150 people ran the race and we were lucky to only have had a light sprinkling when the runners started at 8am. Afterward, the mister and I grabbed lunch and headed to a City planning open house. This was a chance to provide input on a 30 year plan to improve the City. Then, we headed to the bookstore so I could by Blog, Inc. by an awesome blogger, Joy Cho. I'm about 20 pages in and am really liking the format of the book. I hope some of these tips will help me as I set-up and continue to blog. Mister Special had a BNO (boys night out) and I had decided to stay in by the fire to catch up and read and prepare for my next video blog (which will come out tomorrow...stay tuned!).

Earlier today, I decided to brave the elements and head to Target to see the Neiman Marcus goodies. A Forbes article called the Target & NM launch "its most ambitious merchandise scheme to date as a multichannel retailer." The interesting article which has a behind-the-scenes video about the launch can be found here.
I tried on a few goodies (sorry for the shameless dressing room iPhone pictures):
When I saw the Lela Rose top, I was a bit skeptical about it. Most black with nude inset clothing on me have been less than flattering because the nude fabric was much lighter than my skin tone but this top was really cute and the nude was a flattering color. This would go perfect with a black pencil skirt for a holiday party.
I was rather disappointed by the dress by Robert Rodriguez. The dress is really full which I thought was adorable but the top part was unflattering. Not a bad buy for $100 though.
I thought the girl's collection from Marchesa was absolutely ADORABLE! The frilly dress was even cuter in person and right next to it was a gorgeous cream colored shift dress with beautiful beading across the neckline. I debated trying on a girls XL...still might. :)
Jason Wu had also put out cute girl's dress in khaki polka dots. Here are a few other snapshots I took of other pieces: Altuzarra tumblers and Oscar De Larenta bag.
I had a chance to talk to the woman manning the dressing room station and she said that while a lot of people were trying on the clothes, they weren't buying because the price point is so high.
I did manage to try on some other cute tops that were put out:
This cute animal printed (and sheer) button down blouse:
And this super cute scaled tank top (the true color is the image on the left - an aquamarine color):
I hope you all can get into Target soon to check out the collection. I'm curious to hear what others have to say!
Cheers,
Melissa
